Meet the Agent: Becky Morrison

We’re proud of the team of agents we’ve assembled here at Nest Realty. We think they’re pretty awesome, and we think you will too. During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry. In this installment, we chat with Becky Morrison, an Associate Broker with Nest Realty in Staunton, Virginia.

Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! Where are you from? What brought you to Staunton?
Becky Morrison: I was born and raised in Staunton! I got out of town as quickly as I could after high school…and then realized that I came from the most beautiful corner of the world and couldn’t wait to get back!

NR: How did you get into real estate?
BM: During a brief relocation to NOVA, our Realtor decided that I would make a fantastic Realtor myself! I was getting ready to apply for jobs in the design field at the time, but thought…why not? I gave it a shot and it stuck!

NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?
BM: I served in the USMC and hold degrees in Criminal Justice and Interior Design. Odd combo, I know, but you might be amazed at how often all of those psychology classes and the design experience come into play!

NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
BM: I am so impressed at how seriously Nest holds to their standards of hiring only full time agents who are dedicated to creating an AMAZING client experience and building trust in the communities that they serve. It is a brand that I am very honored to partner with!

NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
BM: That’s easy! The relationships! Clients, co-workers, neighbors, and affiliates. This process requires a team effort and the relationships that are built along the way are priceless!

NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
BM: I specialize in all residential real estate, but being a farm girl myself, I do especially enjoy properties with some land and open spaces.

NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?
BM: I served as an educator in a previous real estate setting. I really take time with buyers and sellers to talk through the whole process at the very beginning, so that as we are faced with decisions and obstacles along the way, they usually don’t come as a surprise and we have a “plan for that”!

NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
BM: Outgoing, focused, adventurous, dedicated, and possibly a bit silly…once you get to know me.

NR: Who would be your dream client?
BM: I had to think about this one for a long time…but I’m going to say Carol Burnett. Think about it…Carol Burnett meets the home buying process. It is a re-run I would watch over and over.

NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
BM: Let’s build a SOLID foundation at the very beginning! When it is time to pull the trigger and your nerves kick in, you will KNOW that you have taken the right steps leading up to this moment and you can trust it.

NR: What is your favorite season in Staunton?
BM: Real Estate Season! Just kidding…I love all of them! Every season in the Shenandoah Valley is a beautiful one!
