Whether you’re looking for family activities or more adult-oriented fun this weekend, there’s something to do in or around Charlottesville! Let Nest be your guide:

  1. Foxfield! (Need we say more??) http://www.foxfieldraces.com
  2. Albemarle Charlottesville Historical Society is hosting Court Square Walking Tours that Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and James Monroe all traversed across. Stop by their office at 200 Second Street NE to buy $5 tickets (or at http://www.albemarlehistory.org) and start your tour! Tours run until October.
  3. Attend the exhibition of Joseph Cornell’s work in surrealism. The event is at the Fralin Museum of Art on 155 Rugby Road.
  4. Thomas Jefferson may be the founder of Charlottesville, but other presidents called it home, too! Reserve an extended tour of James Madison’s Montpelier, running through October and starting this weekend!
  5. Enjoy live music and local brews at Wild Wolf Brewing Company in Nellysford. They will be hosting the Bluezdoctorz on Friday and Bennie Dodd on Saturday. Or, see Bryan Elijah Smith perform at the same time at Devils Backbone brewery in Roseland.
  6. Check out the Jefferson Theatre’s events this weekend- Carolina Chocolate Drops performs on Friday at 8pm and a presentation from Todd Snider is on Saturday at 8pm.
  7. Are your weekend plans a mystery to you? Well, now they really can be as Monticello hosts the Mystery Dinner Theater. Dinner and a show are on Friday and Saturday and should provide eventful evenings!
  8. Want to relax to some good music? Check out C’ville Coffee on Friday at 8pm for acoustic duo Scuffletown.
  9. Tours are starting up this Friday at 7pm of Charlottesville’s own Oakwood Cemetery! Tickets can be bought online at http://www.albemarlehistory.org/ or at the start of the tour. They will be running through October.
  10. Fridays After Five is always a great event to attend when the weather’s nice! This Friday stop by to see The Soul Serenaders at the nTelos Wireless Pavilion, talk to neighbors, and have a drink!
  11. From 8am to 7pm this entire weekend, the Fleetwood Community Center will be selling horseback rides through the mountain trails (including camping and meals) as well as art by local artists in Roseland. Call 434-277-5814 for more details!
  12. Interested in writing? Author Jane Alison will be giving a lecture at WriterHouse at 7pm this Friday. Admission is free!
  13. Are you a fan of Trager Brothers Coffee? Of course you are. Help them celebrate their new roastery opening in Nelson County on Saturday! Music, food, and drinks will be provided from 5pm to 9pm.
  14. If you feel like getting fancy, attend the Wintergreen Performing Arts Annual Gala at the Copacabana. The event is from 6pm to 10pm Saturday night and will include a live and silent auction.
  15. If you’re looking for family fun, look no further! YMCA is hosting its Healthy Kids Day at Claudius Crozet Park on Saturday from 1pm to 4pm. The event will give families a chance to get active together.
  16. Take a walk through the Morven estate that spans 7,378- acres and that is only open to the public on Saturday from 10am to 5pm as a part of Historic Garden Week! This house, visited by Thomas Jefferson, will surely be fun and beautiful to see.
  17. This Saturday is the tenth anniversary of the SPCA Thrift Store’s Almost Home Pet Adoption Center. Stop by the store from 10am to 6pm to help support this no-kill shelter in Nelson County!
  18. After you stop by the farmer’s market downtown, head over to Nelson County this Saturday between 8am and 12pm live music and goods to purchase from local vendors? It runs every Saturday until October.
  19. This Saturday from 3pm to 5pm Albemarle Cider Works will be hosting live 20’s-style jazz for free. 
  20. Finally, make sure you stop by the annual Dogwood Festival Parade and see the Dogwood Queen this Saturday at 10:45am in downtown Charlottesville!
