On the Go: Banff Film Festival

Channel your Inner Adventurer at the Banff Film Festival

Whether you’re interested in going on a rock climbing adventure, hiking trip, camping excursion, or just taking a scenic drive, Virginia and North Carolina are filled with amazing opportunities for outdoor recreation—and Nest is lucky enough to have offices in both states! So the Nest team, and our clients and friends, have the chance to be surrounded by Earth’s stunning natural beauty all the time.

In the coming week, the Charlottesville and New River Valley areas will spend a little extra time appreciating the great outdoors and our planet at the Banff Mountain Film Festival, an international film tour that brings a selection of the best action sports, mountain adventures, and environmental films to hundreds of venues across the United States, Europe, and Canada.

Originally launched in 1976 as a small celebration of local climbing films, this global festival has evolved into a nine-day event and proceeding tour, complete with speakers, and book, film, and photography competitions. The main event takes place in Banff, Alberta, Canada, then The Banff Centre travels to all seven continents to share some of the best film submissions to the festival with the rest of the world. It’s estimated that a total of 840 screenings occur while on tour.

So whether you’re a filmmaker, an outdoor enthusiast, a conservationist, or just someone who loves the Charlottesville and New River Valley area (we know we do!), consider a night out at the Banff Mountain Film Festival. You’ll leave with an even greater appreciation of the gorgeous planet that surrounds us every day and perhaps a desire to take an adventure.

Information about the Charlottesville showing can be found here. Details about the Blacksburg showing can be found here.
