Late Summer Fun in Asheville

Five Things You Must Do Before Summer Ends!

Fall is quickly approaching, but there’s still time left to enjoy the long days of summer. Don’t let the season slip away before completing these five Asheville activities. We’ve got family fun, date nights, and solo time covered…just five more reasons we, “Live Where We Love.”

1 – Watch a Sunset from the Skybar

Bask in the glow of the sun’s setting rays from atop the balcony at the Skybar. The three-level outdoor patio is actually built from the fire escapes of the historic Flatiron Building in Downtown  Asheville. Order a craft cocktail, snuggle close with your sweetie, and watch as the sun sets behind the rolling mountains to the west.

2 – Afternoon BBQ at The Bywater

Pack up the kids, dogs, and hot dogs, and head down to the French Broad River. The Bywater Bar is a laid-back bar with a stellar piece of riverfront property land that allows families (dogs too) to hang out, play games, and enjoy the 18 beers on tap. Heads-up: technically, the bar is a “private club” that you’ll need to pay a one-time $5 fee to become a member. Only one person in your party needs to be a member.

Once a year, for one day only, Lexington Avenue is closed down to host a huge an all local, all organic street fair, The Lexington Avenue Arts and Fun Festival. The 10-year old event includes street performers, artwork, and music. An entire day of fun and sun for the whole family.

Located 40 miles southwest of Asheville, between Brevard and Hendersonville, the 10,000 acre state forest opens at 5:00 a.m. Hit the three-mile roundtrip hike that takes you past three stunning waterfalls—Hooker, Triple, and High Falls.
