Paint the Town Orange!

Calling all University of Virginia fans!

By Elise Gosselin

UVA’s annual “Paint the Town Orange” is next Friday, September 11, 2015. Be sure to wear your Cavalier colors—orange and navy—to celebrate a new school year and to support the intercollegiate athletics season.

Why participate? Besides this Friday being an excellent opportunity to support the Cavaliers, “Paint the Town Orange” is also an opportunity to win prizes! Virginia sports marketing and licensing offices plan to travel throughout the Charlottesville area to reward festively dressed fans with prizes from Virginia Athletics.

Then onto the Pep Rally! The festivities don’t end with dressing in orange and blue—Friday’s “Paint the Town Orange” leads fans to a pep rally held on Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall. The pep rally is scheduled in conjunction with “Friday’s After Five,” the free, live concert series held at the inTelos Wireless Pavilion, located at the end of Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall.

At 5:30 p.m., the pep rally will feature cheerleaders and UVA’s mascot, Cavman, promotional gear, face tattoos, and the UVA bounce castle.

At 8:15 p.m., the Cavalier Marching Band and Virginia head football coach, Mike London, will meet at the pavilion stage to speak to the crowd.

The entire “Paint the Town Orange” Friday extravaganza is a part of “College Colors Day,” an annual celebration that the university explains is “dedicated to promoting the traditions and spirit that make the college experience great.” “College Colors Day” strives to advocate higher education through increased public awareness, and the day celebrates the achievements of colleges and universities throughout the country. By sporting your orange and blue, you, too, can be a part of this great tradition. Go Cavs!
