Seller's Scoop

  • View: The view to the south from the kitchen and master bedroom changes with the seasons. Some mornings we wake up above the clouds. Most days the view extends 42 miles over the mountains and coves to Pinnacle Mountain in South Carolina.
  • Room: The master bedroom deck is my favorite for al fresco breakfast or just a cup of coffee. Lounging on the deck in the afternoon almost always features red tailed hawks soaring in and out of the clouds. Just look up.
  • Tree: The oaks dominate our second growth forest with a few of the old fellows dating back 120 years. A few chestnut tree trunks are still identifiable on the ground. They sprout here and there, but have never recovered from the chestnut blight.
  • Walk: Mornings, late afternoon and dusk are the best times for walking the property and neighborhood. Privacy is the home's best feature and much appreciated in the early evenings.
  • Hike: We have a couple of 1.45 mile walks to the east and the north. Bicycles are a favorite for many on our road. Its been about 20 years, but at one time the Tour Dupont passed right by our house.
  • Breakfast: My breakfast favorite is the Cornerstone on Tunnel Road while many prefer Early Girl on Wall Street downtown.
  • Lunch: Carmel's downtown
  • Dinner: Chestnut Restaurant on Biltmore Avenue , Corner Kitchen on Boston Way or Market Place on Wall Street
  • Pub/Winery: Stephens Pub on Charlotte Street is a great place for a beer. The New Belgium Brewery on the river is a great place to gather in the afternoon, but a drink in one of the adirondack chairs on the lawn behind the Asheville Supper Club is special.
  • Living Here Has Been: The home has been exclusively private for our family for 40 years, but still convenient to a vibrant city. We can be at a restaurant in downtown Asheville in 7 minutes or the Blue Ridge Parkway 7 minutes in the opposite direction. When we come home to 789 Town Mountain Road, it's our private retreat and every sunrise brings a new surprise.
