Meet the Agent: Anna Bergey

Agent: Anna Bergey

We’re proud of the team of agents we’ve assembled here at Nest Realty. We think they’re pretty awesome, and we think you will too. During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry. In this installment, we chat with Anna Bergey, a Realtor with Nest Realty in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! Where are you from? What brought you to Harrisonburg?
Anna Bergey: I was born in Annapolis, Maryland. My parents moved to Staunton in 1990 to escape the hustle and bustle of Annapolis. I have some memories of Maryland, but the Shenandoah Valley is my home.

NR: How did you get into real estate?
AB: I’ve always had an interest in real estate. My parents bought and renovated a few houses growing up, which, I believe, added to that interest. When my older children became school age, I was ready to pursue real estate as a supplement to my income at my family’s B&B.

NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?
AB: I’ve been working since I was old enough to work. I worked my way through college in restaurants, received my degree in public relations, and worked in advertising for a few years before landing at my family’s bed and breakfast business. Hospitality and customer service have been a huge part of my career since the start. I feel like this is a service industry. It is a privilege to help any of my clients walk through this process, which is such a huge part of their life. I aim to do it with putting their needs first and ultimately making what can be a very stressful process as enjoyable as possible.

NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
AB: I was on a team at another brokerage and one of my teammates introduced me to Nest. After learning about the brand, seeing what the company does, and how it is structured, I was sold. I am so excited to be at this brokerage firm and feel it is going to be a great fit.

NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
AB: Apart from the fun of getting to look at all kinds of homes and property all over the ValIey, I have loved building relationships with my clients. We end up as friends.

NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
AB: I have a good knowledge base for old houses. A couple of the homes my parents renovated were old and I love to envision what an old home can become. My husband and I live in a home that was built in 1840 and which we renovated in 2012.

NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?
AB: I value relationships and making the transaction as smooth and seamless as possible.

NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
AB: Eager, kind, agreeable, ambitious, and assertive.

NR: Who would be your dream client?
AB: I love Ellen Degeneres. She would probably be fun to work with and I admire her philanthropic spirit.

NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
AB: Don’t overspend. Figure out your budget and what you can comfortably spend. This can help you be prepared for the expenses of home ownership along the way.

NR: What is your favorite season in Harrisonburg?
AB: The fall is a beautiful time in the Shenandoah Valley!
