Asheville Summer Bucket List: Relax at Lake Tomahawk

Welcome to our final week, Week 5! In Nest Realty’s Summer Bucket List Series, we’ll highlight five of our favorite summer activities in the Asheville area. Let us know which adventure was your favorite! Next, send a photo or leave a comment about your day in the sun. We hope these inspire you to love where you live even more than you already do!

The fifth must-do for this summer in Asheville continues with our special water theme: relax at Lake Tomahawk. Lake Tomahawk Park in Black Mountain, North Carolina is a family-friendly park with scenic views of mountains and includes a .55 mile trail around the lake. Located only about 20 minutes from downtown Asheville, Lake Tomahawk Park hosts a flat walking trail, a playground, and a $3/entry pool. Plus, there are many ducks, birds, and other small wildlife living in the lake and the surrounding park, too!

Bring friends and family and utilize the picnic area with covered tables, or even play a round of tennis at the courts. Further, while biking is not permitted on the path, fishing is, so don’t forget your fishing gear for a leisurely afternoon in the sun. A small community garden adds vivid color to the pathways.

In addition, the lake’s water funnels into a small creek at the far end of the park and includes a bridge to cross over. If you’re standing on the bridge, a beautiful view of the famous Seven Sisters mountain range, which includes seven “sister” peaks, is visible. It’s a sight you won’t want to miss!

Be sure to check out the park for gorgeous views and recreational opportunities!
