President Obama is coming to Charlottesville this Friday. It’s true. We saw it all over Twitter.
We know that you’re going to be short on time, as the gates open at 5pm at the Charlottesville Pavilion for your rally with Tom Perriello.
With the brevity of your free time in mind, here is an itinerary – hint: bring your walking shoes.
1558: Arrive in Charlottesville. Assuming you arrive at our lovely airport, CHO, and that you’ll have a fun motorcade which won’t affect Charlottesville traffic on a Friday afternoon at all … you’ll probably make good time getting to Downtown Charlottesville.
1621: Get a cup of coffee at The Mudhouse Downtown. You’ll likely jump to the head of the ever-present line, so you’ll be out quickly. Normally we’d recommend trying one of their tasty pastries. But we have a treat in store for you later. From there, walk to
1633: Nest Realty Group – you know you want to have a picture in front of our mural, maybe holding our Inman Innovative Brokerage Award? You’re short on time, so …
1641: Head on over to Eppies. We read that you like chili and pizza, and while there are great pizza places on the Downtown Mall, Fridays are Chicken and Dumplings day at Eppies, and it’s one of our favorite meals. Quick!
1659: Quick walk to Chaps Ice Cream. While eating your ice cream, hustle up to the site of your rally, the Charlottesville Pavilion. You have some big shoes to fill. The Avett Brothers played there last week, and the Pavilion has hosted Willie Nelson, Widespread Panic, Crosby Stills and Nash, Sheryl Crow and Garrison Keillor, but we think you’ll be able to hold your own.
Wait! A quick stop to admire The Community Chalkboard and Podium: A Monument to The First Amendment. Write your name in chalk. Everybody’s doing it. We know you’re fashionably late by now, so it’s probably best to take the stage.
Just in case you don’t have sufficient guidance on Friday, here’s a brief walking tour. If you email us, we’ll be happy to take a few minutes to show you around.
Update 29 October 2010: If Obama goes to the Mudhouse, I’m totally taking credit.
@barackobama coming to @downtownMUD – tweet us your best guess of what he orders and you could win free coffee for the rest of the year!
