Beyond the Closing Table

Beyond the Closing Table

Agent Advice is Priceless

Phew! You made it through the process of buying a home. Along the way, you’ve worked closely with your buyer’s agent, who has worked hard to earn your trust. As you settle into your new nest, consider these reasons to maintain a relationship with your agent—beyond the closing table.

Your agent is not just an expert in home buying. They can be remarkably helpful as you work to maintain your home as well. Don’t be shy about asking your agent for maintenance tips, even if it’s been a while since your move. Your agent can also be your direct line to market information; things can change rapidly in real estate, and it pays to keep up with market trends. When you work with Nest Realty, you become a “Friend of Nest,” meaning you’ll receive special touches like our in-house design and lifestyle magazine, chock full of ideas for keeping your home fresh and exploring your local community.

Beyond the Closing Table

Ways your agent can help beyond the closing table:

  • Acting as a sounding board for home renovations. Considering upgrades? Your real estate agent can help you determine which projects will have the largest return on investment to maximize your earnings should you choose to sell in future.
  • Providing ongoing market updates. Whether or not you think this will be your “forever home,” it’s a great idea to stay up to date on the local real estate market. You may find your plans changing based on the future value of your house!

  • Recommending trusted vendors. Need a new water pump or a roof repair? Electricity on the fritz? Your agent knows which local contractors can give you a fair deal for good work, so you can always turn to your agent for advice.
  • Providing zoning redevelopment updates near your home. Sure, you enjoy your view of rolling meadows now. But what if those meadows turn into apartment buildings five or 10 years down the road? Or even a factory? Your agent can give you the heads up if the area around your home is going to be changing, and can help you work through your options so that you can keep living where you love.
  • Giving advice on seasonal and periodic maintenance. Especially if you’re a first-time homeowner, you may not realize all the maintenance that goes into keeping up a home. Your real estate agent can remind you throughout the year about little things like disconnecting the garden hose in winter and changing the batteries in your smoke alarms every six months.

A good buyer’s agent will be your advocate regardless of whether you’re currently working with them or not. Stay in touch for handy tips, to keep yourself informed, and to build your relationship. Who knows—you (or someone you know) may need to buy another home down the road, and you already know someone who can help!
