Checking In at the Lion and the Rose

The Lion and the Rose Bed and Breakfast at 276 Montford Avenue was featured as the “Home of the Week” in the Asheville Citizen-Times on January 13, 2017. Jake Flannick, Citizen-Times correspondent writes, “The Lion and the Rose is a three-story bed-and-breakfast with five guest rooms in a century-old Victorian home in historic Montford, with original hardwood floors and windows with eclectic accents, including artwork and inviting furniture. Tucked on a hillside along Montford Avenue, it has a stately charm from the outside, featuring a wraparound porch and a white picket fence surrounding a landscaped yard with gardens.”

The Lion and the Rose is a Queen Anne/Georgian Revival style pebbledash home that was built in 1898. It has been faithfully restored to its original elegance, with all its rooms furnished in antiques, oriental rugs and period appointments. High embossed ceilings, golden oak, classic leaded and stained glass windows create a feeling of the Victorian era.

While it has been a very successful business endeavor for the current owners — it has an occupancy rate of about 80 percent — the B&B is up for sale, put on the market last month by Nest Asheville as a result of a change in circumstances with the owners.

The Lion and the Rose is ready for a new caretaker who will honor it’s beauty and tradition for fine hospitality. For more information, contact The Cullen Team at 828.275.9757 or click here to view the full listing.
