Explore the Greater Morganton Area

When we talk about real estate, we often make sure to mention the location of a town or city in reference to all the surrounding natural resources or to bigger cities and towns close by. We are so fortunate to live in the foothills because Morganton lends itself to so many day-cations. It not only radiates in natural resources, but is also located in the middle of a few other cities and towns that attract tourists from all over the state and country.

Just shy of an hour west of Morganton is the city of Asheville, a thriving city focused on art, good food, and vibrant people. Located along the Blue Ridge Mountains, Asheville might be most well known as the location of George Vanderbilt’s Biltmore Estate (which is the most magical at Christmas, when they host Christmas at Biltmore) as well as being the home of major American novelist Thomas Wolfe. Asheville also hosts a number of craft breweries, local restaurants, and a number of shops in their vibrant downtown to keep you busy.

In the other direction, to the north of Morganton, you will find Banner Elk, Blowing Rock, and Linville. Banner Elk is home to Grandfather Mountain State Park, wineries, and Sugar Mountain Resort, a place where locals and visitors ski during the winter months. Blowing Rock is well known for the Blowing Rock Charity Horseshow, the nation’s longest-running event of its kind. Blowing Rock has also been described as one of North Carolina’s most scenic villages. Linville is known as a tiny town with big adventure as it is a part of North Carolina’s High Country, offering plenty of trails and restaurants. You can even catch some serious R&R at the famous Eseeola Lodge at Linville Golf Club.

We believe that Morganton is a geographical gem with its surrounding areas, making it the perfect spot for plenty of “day-cations.” So what are you waiting for? Find out why there is no place like Morganton!
