Meet the Agent: Jamil Johnson

Agent: Jamil Johnson

We’re proud of the team of agents we’ve assembled here at Nest Realty. We think they’re pretty awesome, and we think you will too. During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry. In this installment, we chat with Jamil Johnson, an agent with Nest Realty in Durham, North Carolina.

Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! What brought you to Durham?
Jamil Johnson: I moved to Durham 17 years ago to marry my sweetheart!

NR: How did you get into real estate?
JJ: I quit college to start in real estate some time ago. My mother made me recommit to college. So, it has been something I wanted to do for a while.

NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?
JJ: I worked in banking/credit “unioning” for close to 20 years. The industry sharpened my listening skills and service mindedness.

NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
JJ: I really appreciated the professionalism of the agents I met.

NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
JJ: Helping people.

NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
JJ: Introspective, humorous, helpful, industrious, and compassionate.

NR: Who would be your dream client?
JJ: My mother. She passed a couple of years ago. I believe it would be nice to learn more about her taste in a home.

NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
JJ: Besides knowing what you can afford, understand what you want most inside and around your new home.

NR: What is your favorite season in Durham?
JJ: I love fall.
