Meet The Agent: Lana Petrinjak

During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry. In this in installment, we chat with Lana Petrinjak, a Broker at Nest Realty Jackson.

Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! Where are you from? What brought you to Jackson?

Lana Petrinjak: I grew up in Jackson! After college in Atlanta, my husband and I lived briefly in Gainesville, Florida and then Knoxville, and then we returned home to Jackson in 1996 for my husband’s job. So I’ve been here long enough to witness some dramatic growth and change in Jackson over the past 30 years.

NR: How did you get into real estate?

LP: Before getting into real estate I was a stay-at-home mom for 10 years. That was a great experience, but after my daughter reached middle school, I was looking for a new adventure. My family and friends encouraged me to take a real estate course, and the rest is history…

NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?

LP: Nest Realty has the best marketing for me and my clients, period. I worked for another real estate company for over 10 years before joining Nest Realty Jackson in 2019. When Nest Realty came to town, I was immediately impressed with their marketing expertise. The combination of local ownership, local agents, and a national marketing team is hard to beat.

NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?

LP: Representing home buyers, especially young families. They are always excited about making the move to a new house, and that excitement spreads to everyone throughout the process. But the market is hot right now, and some houses are selling immediately when they hit the market. It definitely keeps you moving at a fast pace!

NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?

LP: Nest Realty provides a distinct advantage when it comes to listing and selling homes in this new era of internet and social media marketing. Other real estate companies try to use social media, but most agents don’t have the technical know-how. With Nest Realty, I’m happy to leave certain things to the experts, and utilize that expertise on behalf of my clients.

NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?

LP: Hard work and determination to finish the job. I know that sounds like a cliché, but it really is true. Real estate is a full-time job that involves being on call nights and weekends. Yes, I sometimes work odd hours, but it’s a lot more exciting than sitting in an office all day!

NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?

LP: Dedicated, hardworking, passionate, caring, and fun!

NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?

LP: Hire an experienced agent who is not only familiar with the local market, but also understands the process of mortgage approvals and the home inspection process. And make sure your agent is willing to meet with you personally, every step of the way.

NR: What is your favorite season in Jackson?

LP: Summer. I love the first couple months of hot weather.
