During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry. In this installment, we chat with Lori Kindig, a Realtor with Nest Realty in Staunton, Virginia.
Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! Where are you from? What brought you to Staunton?
Lori Kindig: I have had the privilege of calling the Shenandoah Valley home my entire life…couldn’t imagine calling any other place “home.”
NR: How did you get into real estate?
LK: While in high school, I earned my very first paycheck by filling in for a receptionist who was out on vacation for a week at a local real estate office. I enjoyed the fast-paced environment and searching the various properties available for sale. A few months later I was asked to handle marketing for the top producing real estate team in the Valley, which I did until I finished college at James Madison University with a pre-med degree.
NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?
LK: During my college years, I also worked in two local hospitals—surgical and emergency medicine—in direct patient care. I have always been interested in the medical field, and this experience provided me with a caring attitude, the gift of empathy, emotional strength, the desire to take on challenges, and most of all the desire to help others.
NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
LK: I have professional goals that I believe only a brokerage like Nest can help me achieve. Being a part of a proactive brokerage in this ever-changing and competitive market is imperative. Nest only hires full-time agents, has a culture that is diverse and uplifting, is nationally recognized for its marketing initiatives, and supports their agents at an individual level, which means better service for my clients.
NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
LK: Helping others, hands down. As a Realtor, a coach, a family member, or a friend, I always strive to make a difference in the lives of those around me.
NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
LK: Being licensed since 2005, I have had the opportunity to assist in standard sales, foreclosures, short sales, auction assets, first-time home buyers to seasoned investors, and everything in between. I’m willing to represent my clients in every facet of their real estate needs.
NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?
LK: I’m able to relate to my clients on various levels; appreciate where they are, and where they want to be.
NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
LK: Patient, resilient, out-going, driven, and honest.
NR: Who would be your dream client?
LK: My past clients or their referrals; when this happens, I know I’m doing something right!
NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
LK: Enjoy the process…it’s super fun, and I’d be delighted to be on the journey with you!
NR: What is your favorite season in Staunton?
LK: Fall; nestled between the Blue Ridge and Alleghany Mountains, the Shenandoah Valley offers nothing more beautiful than fall foliage.
