Meet the Agent: Madonna Messana

Agent: Madonna Messana

We’re proud of the team of agents we’ve assembled here at Nest Realty. We think they’re pretty awesome, and we think you will too. During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry. In this installment, we chat with Madonna Messana, a Broker at Nest Realty Wilmington.

Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! Where are you from? What brought you to Wilmington?
Madonna Messana: I am originally from Pinehurst, NC, and I have always wanted to live on the coast. Growing up we often traveled to other beaches—but nothing could beat the beautiful North Carolina coast. After graduating from East Carolina University, with a bachelor’s degree in communication, I decided to relocate to Wilmington and now I cannot imagine living anywhere else.

NR: How did you get into real estate?
MM: I decided to get into real estate after my aunt, who is a licensed agent in Raleigh, urged me to look into the career. I have always loved looking at homes and growing up, my grandfather was a local builder—watching an empty lot turn into not only a house but a cozy home was always inspiring. Now today, I am able to be a part of that process, and nothing makes me happier than helping someone find their perfect home.

NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?
MM: Before I decided to make a career out of real estate, I worked in marketing for a local business. Being able to use my marketing and communication background to market myself, my own business, and the properties I have listed has been very resourceful. I have always joked that I majored in “talking to and meeting new people.” My real estate career has really benefited from my ability to do just that.

NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
MM: Honestly, I was drawn to Nest because their marketing and branding is unbeatable—and having a background in marketing, I was so excited to have these tools available to me. I also loved that Nest focused so much on the client experience, which is so important to me. Now after getting to know my fellow agents, I know I could not have made a better decision—everyone is so welcoming and helpful.

NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
MM: My favorite part of being an agent is seeing my clients eyes light up when they walk into a home and it’s perfect. Their excitement always excites me— from that moment all the way to the closing table when they are finally handed the keys.

NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
MM: I love working with firefighters, police officers, military, and first responders. Being able to give back and help those who put their lives on the line every day is such a wonderful feeling. I understand their schedules aren’t always the typical 9-5, and I always accommodate to meet their specific needs.

NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?
MM: Part of the reason why I love being in real estate is getting to meet new people. I treat each and every one of my clients as a lifelong friend, and I truly hope to turn each of my clients into just that. For me, it isn’t about the numbers—it’s about getting to know someone’s wants and needs and helping them find exactly what they’re looking for, and seeing them truly happy at the end of the day.

NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
MM: Compassionate, driven, inquisitive, ambitious, and amiable.

NR: Who would be your dream client?
MM: Anna Kendrick! I literally love her and I honestly believe if we met, we’d be BEST Friends…So, hey Anna—if you’re reading this and you’re looking for a home here in Wilmington…let me know! 😉

NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
MM: Trust your instincts and don’t stress about the little things! If your gut is telling you something, go with it. And let me handle the stress—that’s what I’m here for—to help you every step of the way, to be a shoulder to cry on, and someone to laugh and celebrate with.

NR: What is your favorite season in Wilmington?
MM: My favorite season here in Wilmington (or anywhere really) is Fall! Here in Wilmington it is typically still warm enough to enjoy time at the beach, on the water, and outside in general. I also love watching the trees change colors and the traffic slow down a little bit.
