In this installment, we chat with Richard Lindau, a Broker with Nest Realty in Asheville, North Carolina.
Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! Where are you from? What brought you to Asheville?
Richard Lindau: My first visit to Asheville was in 2009 with friends. I instantly fell in love with the charm of the city and the beautiful mountains. In 2015, I moved up from Central Florida, and I have called Asheville home ever since.
NR: How did you get into real estate?
RL: My major in college was environmental studies and growth management at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. Many of my classes had me in different neighborhoods throughout the city studying the design, flow, and architecture. This transitioned easily into real estate, where I focused in residential and new construction.
NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?
RL: For the past decade, I have worked in a variety of sales roles, from high end jewelry to luxury hotels and real estate in Florida, and now North Carolina. The common denominator between all of these roles is relationship building, understanding the needs of the client so I can assess how to properly assist.
NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
RL: Over the years I have kept an eye on Nest Realty. I was receiving Nest publications and market reports. I was watching all of their social media content. Everything was polished, branded, and professional. I quickly realized that Nest Realty has a fresh approach to real estate and that there was nowhere else I would want to hang my license.
NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
RL: Every day is an adventure. I love helping people find their serenity.
NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
RL: First-time home buyers and new construction.
NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?
RL: I’m highly observant and detailed oriented, and I have an uncanny knack for problem solving.
NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
RL: Authentic, humble, driven, respectful, and imaginative.
NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
RL: Breathe. This is a very exciting and stressful time.
NR: What is your favorite season in Asheville?
RL: Spring! I love watching all of the plants slowly wake up and bloom.
