Meet The Agent: Ryan McCullough

We’re proud of the team of agents we’ve assembled here at Nest Realty. We think they’re pretty awesome, and we think you will too. During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry. In this in installment, we chat with Ryan McCullough, a Broker at Nest Realty Asheville.

Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! Where are you from? What brought you to Asheville?

Ryan McCullough: I grew up here in the Asheville area, about 15 minutes north in a quaint little town called Weaverville. I moved away for college and did some serious traveling in my early 20s. I visited some amazingly beautiful places and had many great experiences along the way, but found there was no better place to put down roots than right here.

NR: How did you get into real estate?

RM:  Real estate got into me, really. I was presented an opportunity to explore this career, mostly out of curiosity, and a bit of chance. I was instantly sucked in to the crazy world of real estate and never looked back.

NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?

RM:  After graduating from college with a degree in business management, I pursued a career in the commercial tourism field. Every day presented a different set of challenges and I quickly learned how to adapt and took on a solutions-oriented mindset. In the real estate world, we are constantly being faced with obstacles – being able to address them with a proactive approach and optimistic attitude truly makes all the difference in the world. My goal is the provide my clients the best results and make their experience not only successful, but enjoyable as well.

NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?

RM:  For the past couple years, I have been working with a local non-profit on establishing a dedicated fund to end chronic homelessness here in our community. Nest Realty has embraced this mission and their dedication to our community is second to none. I am proud to represent a firm that shares my passion and commitment to our community and everyone in it.

NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?

RM:  I have the opportunity to help people in my community grow. Home is where the heart is, and I put my heart into my work. My career in real estate has also given me the opportunity to give back to my community and improve the lives of so many people here.

NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?

RM:  People have told me I’m an old soul. So, I suppose I am “wise beyond my years.” ; )

NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?

RM:  I like to think of myself as a guide, not an agent. My job is more than showings and paperwork. My goal is to lead my clients through the real estate process and create a memorable experience. As they say, it’s the journey – not the destination.

NR: Who would be your dream client?

RM:  Bill Murray.

NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?

RM:  You got this.

NR: What is your favorite season in Asheville?

RM:  Spring.
