Meet the Agent: Stacey Porter

We’re proud of the team of agents we’ve assembled here at Nest Realty. We think they’re pretty awesome, and we think you will too. During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry. In this installment, we chat with Stacey Porter, a Realtor at Nest Realty Roanoke.

Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! Where are you from? What brought you to Roanoke?
Stacey Porter: I’m Roanoke born and bred! Even though I moved away for school and for my early career aspirations, I knew I would always come home. #livewhereyoulove

NR: How did you get into real estate?
SP: I’ve always had a passion for helping people and I LOVE looking at homes and imagining the lives and love built there. It was a perfect fit for me and when the opportunity presented itself, I jumped!

NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?
SP: I am very driven, and quickly climbed the ladder in business and counseling education with development and international recruitment at the executive, C-Suite level for area and national nonprofit organizations. My business and counseling background along with strategy and team building strengths have helped me not only become a citizen of the world, but also a serving leader in my community.

NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
SP: The Golden Circle, which basically says, “people buy what you believe in, and not what you are selling.” I believe in Nest. And Kim and Scott believe in me. I share their values and integrity and I want the same for my clients.

NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
SP: If I am being really specific, it’s that “doe-eyed” look my clients get when I know we have just stepped into THE ONE and found their perfect home. I love that look and I love that feeling and I LOVE that I get to help make it a reality!

NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
SP: While I could use a lot of real estate buzz words, my area of expertise would most definitely be customer-centric, detail-focused service. There are a lot of moving pieces to a real estate transaction. It is paramount for an agent to stay laser-focused on supporting, protecting, and advocating for the client during every phase of the journey. I think my background and real estate experience, as well as Nest, have prepared me to be that leader and expert when it comes to an elevated level of customer service.

NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?
SP: I recruit to my weaknesses, instead of relying solely on my perceived strengths. What I mean by this is, I strive to ensure that if I do not have the best educated answer to a problem, then I will seek out the most competent expertise possible to ensure the desired outcome.

NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
SP: Compassionate, Stubborn, Confident, Genuine, and Happy.

NR: Who would be your dream client?
SP: Black and white film star Mae West! Can you imagine her quick wit when looking at homes and negotiating? I might pick up a one-liner or two. In fact, I already love to quote her on occasion! I also think of all of those people of her time and generation who just weren’t allowed to buy a home. I’m a staunch supporter of the Fair Housing Act and its relevance still to this day.

NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
SP: Choose an agent who you trust and who has your back. It will make it so much easier to breathe.

NR: What is your favorite season in Roanoke?
SP: Fall in Southwest Virginia is amazing. The leaves are changing, the air starts to get a slight chill, we start to use the fire pit outside more, and it’s the perfect excuse to cuddle.
