During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry. In this installment, we chat with Amanda McCoy, an agent in Asheville, North Carolina.
Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! What brought you to Asheville?
Amanda McCoy: I have lived in Asheville and the surrounding areas my whole life. Being from here, I used to take my surroundings for granted, but within the last 10 years, my eyes have opened up to the beautiful area around me.
NR: How did you get into real estate?
AM: My husband Kris McCoy became a Realtor a number of years ago. He always wanted me to join him as a team member. As I helped him through the years behind the scenes, I soon realized what a power team we would be if I became a Realtor. We love helping people so much—this is what makes us a power team!
NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?
AM: I have a background in accounting. I am very detailed oriented and very organized. This helps in real estate, with all of the moving parts in a transaction.
NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
AM: I love Nest’s culture and how the client comes first. This follows my and my husband’s values.
NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
AM: Getting to help people with the most important transaction in their life.
NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
AM: Relocation.
NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?
AM: I am very empathic. I can visualize myself in my clients’ shoes, and in their future home. I can envision where I would read, walk my dogs, wash the dishes, etc. I voice these visions as I show homes, and it gives the clients a sense of ease and also gives them ideas of the activities they could do in the home. I personalize the experience.
NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
AM: Humble, honest, empathic, genuine, and caring.
NR: Who would be your dream client?
AM: All clients are ideal clients! I want to help anyone I can find and purchase a home. It’s the biggest purchase in anyone’s life, and there will always be challenges. However, I will strive to make the transaction as smooth as possible for any client.
NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
AM: Research Realtors. Go with your instincts and don’t rush through the process. If you have a great Realtor, you will have the best experience possible, even through the challenges.
NR: What is your favorite season in Asheville?
AM: Fall. I love the color of the changing leaves, the cooler weather, sweatshirts, and campfires.
