Meet the Agent: Angela Moneymaker

We think we have some pretty awesome agents here at Nest, and we think you’ll like them too. During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents to learn more about them—what makes them tick and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry. For this in installment, we chat with Angela Moneymaker, a Realtor at Nest Realty Shenandoah Valley.

Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself!
Angela Moneymaker: I am a wife and mother of 3 plus 2 grandsons.

NR: How did you get into real estate?
AM: My daughter was an agent and asked me to join her.

NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?
AM: I took early retirement from being a postmaster after 24.5 yrs of service. I have been in customer service all my adult life through various jobs and have always loved my customers/clients. I build friendships that last a lifetime. This helped me become a real estate agent that meets Nests expectations to provide excellent client services. I also worked as an agent and then a Branch Administrator for 8 months at another real estate firm. That experience helped me gain even more knowledge to assist my clients.

NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
AM: I came to Nest because I was very impressed with their commitment to customer service, their awesome technology and gorgeous marketing.

NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
AM: Meeting new people, building friendships, and watching their joy as they find their new home.

NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
AM: Residential listings and sales. Have also taken classes for an SRS designation and a SFR designation that I will renew soon.

NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?
AM: I seek to build relationships with my clients that will last a lifetime instead of one transaction. Many of my clients still meet me for lunch sometimes.

NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
AM: Organized, hard working, passionate, loyal, and honest.

NR: Who would be your dream client?
AM: It goes without saying they are pre-approved and ready to buy—so I would say a client that is fun to be around and makes the process more enjoyable.

NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
AM: Go as far as you can for an approval for your mortgage before touring homes to prevent disappointment or time wasting. You could look at homes in one price range and later be told by your loan officer that you have to look $15k below that range.

NR: What is your favorite season in the Shenandoah Valley?
AM: Spring for sure! I love the smell of freshly mowed grass. And the Shenandoah Valley is gorgeous in spring!
