Meet the Agent: Jennifer Routh

agent Jennifer Routh

We’re proud of the team of agents we’ve assembled here at Nest Realty. We think they’re pretty awesome, and we think you will too. During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry. In this installment, we chat with agent Jennifer Routh, a Broker with Nest Realty in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! What brought you to Raleigh?
Jennifer Routh: I moved here for NC State (go Wolfpack!) years ago, graduated, moved around the U.S., and relocated back to the area in 2011 to be closer to family and friends. I love being back!

NR: How did you get into real estate?
JR: After moving a few times for work, I fell in love with the process of finding a home that best fit my needs for that stage of life. I then expanded to helping friends and family narrow their home search and seeing the potential in a property. Transitioning into real estate on a professional level was a natural progression, and I’m loving it!

NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?
JR: My background is in healthcare sales, and I also enjoy nonprofit fundraising. Real estate enables me to merge my analytical skills and strong knowledge of the Chapel Hill/Durham market to assist buyers in making sound financial decisions. My goals are to keep my clients informed throughout the real estate transaction and to navigate them through the process; my years of account management have come in quite handy.

NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
JR: Nest has an energetic, supportive culture as well as top-of-the-line marketing. Brokers are genuine and engaged in the community. Nest clients win even in difficult markets; I know because I was a client. When I decided to take the plunge into residential real estate, I knew Nest was the place for me.

NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
JR: I’ve been in the Triangle for nearly 20 years and know the area, amenities, neighborhoods, commute times, local schools, and so much more. As an agent, I’m able to help my clients problem solve to find the best possible property to call home. I’m eager to listen to their wish list and then get to work to help them find it!

NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
JR: There is not a one size fits all dream property when it comes to real estate. Each client has specific wants and needs. Spending more than 10 years in account management has honed my listening and strategic questioning skills as well as my ability to be a steady guide through what can become an emotional, stressful situation.

NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?
JR: I’m outgoing, friendly, and analytical. I strive to help my clients find a property that they will fall in love with and that will be a solid financial decision. For most clients, their home is one of their largest assets. I have renovated an older home that had charm and have purchased a turn-key property. There are benefits to both, and I’m here to help my clients pick the property that will be both a personal and financial win.

NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
JR: Adaptable, conscientious, reliable, driven, and thorough.

NR: Who would be your dream client?
JR: Ah, so many to choose from! I’m going to say Chip and Joanna Gaines. Chip would keep me laughing and Joanna can transform any space into something amazing.

NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
JR: As a first-time home buyer, every step of the process is new. Even if you are well informed going into your home purchase, you will learn so many things that will help you on your next transaction. Find the home that speaks to you—the home that you can’t wait to transform into your style. You won’t forget your first home; let’s work together to find something great for you to love!

NR: What is your favorite season in Raleigh?
I love fall in the Triangle. Pool and beach days are over, but people are still having fun outdoors. We have three college towns here, and you can feel the energy of the students back on campus. Game days transform the towns with students, parents, and visitors packing the shops and restaurants. If you ever want to get out of town, the mountains are just a short drive away.
