During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry. In this installment, we chat with Jordyn Zimmerman, a Broker at Nest Realty Wilmington.
Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! Where are you from? What brought you to Wilmington?
Jordyn Zimmerman: My husband and I took a long and winding road trip from Portland, OR, in 2009 to be closer to my family. We were expecting our first child and being close to Grandma has been a lifesaver!
NR: How did you get into real estate?
JR: We moved to five different houses before I was 17, simply because my mother loves to decorate them! I had fun going to open houses and showings with her, imagining our lives in a new space. My mother has kept her love of houses and I have enjoyed helping her move to a few new ones here in Wilmington. So I guess I grew up doing it?! This career move just feels right and natural!
NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?
JR: I have years of experience in sales and customer service, and a degree in community health. I am passionate about this city I call home, and I will work tirelessly to give my clients the best real estate experience they will ever have!
NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
JR: I had the pleasure of selling and buying with Nest before becoming an agent with them. I love the sense of community and the collaborative feeling among the agents. I could tell that everyone was having fun and I felt like I was a part of something special and unique! Feeling that way as a customer made me feel certain that this was the place for me!
NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
JR: Buying a house brings all the feels. I have been through it twice and it’s such a rush of emotions! I love helping people through the roller coaster of buying or selling, and seeing the huge amounts of joy when a family finds their perfect little nest.
NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
JR: Staging home is one of my favorite things to do! I can usually take what exists and turn it into a show ready home pretty quickly. On the flip side I am pretty good at envisioning a new space for someone. I enjoy thinking outside the box and finding unique ways to use different rooms.
NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?
JR: I am always looking for the silver lining. I work hard to find the joy and adventure in each transaction. This process should involve a lifetime of happy memories!
NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
JR: Dependable, witty, organized, precise, and determined.
NR: Who would be your dream client?
JR: My mother—if I can find a house to please her then I could find a house for anyone!
NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
JR: Take some deep breaths! Like, a lot of them. Sometimes you need a deep breath to get you through some not-so-fun moments in this process but don’t forget to stop and breathe in all the good stuff too! Buying a house is a valuable and educational experience with an amazing reward at the end!
NR: What is your favorite season in Wilmington?
JR: Fall! I love to see the city winding down from the busy summer but there is still so much time to enjoy the outdoors. The weather is perfect for lying in a hammock and sipping some tea.
