Meet the Agent: Julia Burdette

We’re proud of the team of agents we’ve assembled here at Nest Realty.

We think they’re pretty awesome, and we think you will, too. During Nest Stories’ “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents and brokers to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry.

In this installment, we chat with Julia Burdette, a Realtor in Asheville, North Carolina.

Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! What brought you to the area?
Julia Burdette: I’ve been in Asheville for 21 years. I came to teach Spanish, then I fell in love with the mountains, and a man, and I’ve laid down my roots here.

NR: How did you get into real estate?
JB: I’m in my second full year of being an agent. I got my license to help fill in slow months when I owned a junk removal business. I quickly realized that I loved working with people and properties more, so I sold my purple dump truck and am working as a Realtor full-time now.

NR: How did your previous career prepare you for this role?!
JB: I was a Spanish teacher for nearly 20 years. As my own kids got older, I realized I needed a break from kids in my space all day. But don’t ask me if kids are adults are easier, I plead the fifth!

NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
JB: The support. I am blown away by the systems in place to allow me to focus on building my business.

NR: What’s your favorite part of being an agent?
JB: Sharing the excitement at the end of a search, or negotiation, or closing. Helping people start a new chapter and find what they are looking for is fulfilling.

NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
JB: I love helping sellers, but I also enjoy working with buyers who don’t think they can afford anything, and connecting them to resources to make it possible.

NR: What are five adjectives to describe you?
JB: Energetic, organized, determined, humorous, passionate

NR: What’s your favorite season in Asheville?
JB: Fall. It’s still warm during the day, but the crisp nights hint at changing leaves, cozy sweaters, and glowing fires.

NR: Who would be your dream client? (This can be funny—a famous person, or celebrity, or a general type of person.)
JB: My dream client would be reasonable, flexible, patient — and not just a figment of my imagination!

NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
JB: You can do this. I am here to support you through the whole process, and we will find the right place for you.
