During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry. In this installment, we chat with Julia Nash, an agent with Nest Realty in Roanoke, Virginia.

Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! What brought you to Roanoke?
Julia Nash: I am a Roanoke native! Short of living in South Carolina for about three years, I have always found myself in Roanoke and the surrounding areas.

NR: How did you get into real estate?
JN: In college I studied to become a Registered Dental Hygienist, which allowed me to discover my passion for people. After 10 years of being an RDH and after becoming a professor in dental hygiene, I realized I was ready for a new challenge that still allowed me to help people and make deeper connections with them. After discovering a love of all things real estate through books and podcasts, I figured it was time to pursue this interest and turn it into an occupation.

NR: How has your previous career prepared you for real estate?
JN: My career as a Registered Dental Hygienist and professor of dental hygiene has helped prepare me for a journey into real estate through developing exceptional time management and organizational skills and, most importantly, a passion for people. I am a natural teacher, and to me, teaching my clients about the process involved in purchasing or selling real estate is empowering and helps them to make an informed decision about one of the biggest transactions they will ever make.

NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
JN: I was drawn to Nest’s keen attention to detail, their desire to teach and mentor their new team members, and the connection they maintain with clients.

NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
JN: I am looking forward to the connections I can make with my future clients and helping my clients navigate through this incredibly important experience.

NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
JN: As a native Roanoker, I know the city and surrounding counties intimately. I know that I can provide insight and guidance for clients.

NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?
JN: I will offer patience and guidance through the entire process. I’ve been in the position of both buying and selling real estate, and I can empathize with the excitement and stress of the process. You will not be abandoned or left to fend for yourself at any point of this process. Communication is essential and I will guide you through every step.

NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
JN: Empathetic, assertive, direct, energetic, and persistent.

NR: Who would be your dream client?
JN: My dream client is someone who is open minded and flexible and who will trust the process while actively participating in it.

NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
JN: Educating yourself is the most important thing you can do!

NR: What is your favorite season in Roanoke?
JN: Autumn in Roanoke is absolutely magical. The leaves, the scent, the weather, the festivals: What more could you ask for?
