During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry. In this installment, we chat with Julie Holbrook, an Associate Broker with Nest Realty in Greene County, Virginia.
Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! What brought you to this area?
Julie Holbrook: I moved with my family to Madison County in 1990 after growing up in Southern Albemarle.
NR: How did you get into real estate?
JH: I was working for a forestry company in Charlottesville. They needed someone in the office to get their real estate license to facilitate the purchase of forest land for clients. I worked in the same building as my real estate company. I started slowly selling residential properties and quickly knew this is the field I wanted to be a part of. I am a people person. I get energy from my people connections. I care about people and take them on as part of my family.
NR: What was your previous career?
JH: Office manager for F&W Forestry Service.
NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
JH: I like their markeing and professionalism. I wanted the challenge of growing my business in a more professional manner with consistent products.
NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
JH: The connections with people, including all the vendors involved. I like connecting people together so they get the things they want in life.
NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
JH: Connecting people with others who can help them get what they need. I am a foreclosure expert. I am a rural agent with a large territory.
NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?
JH: I am a team player. I work to help my people get what they need.
NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
JH: Caring, motivator, energy, team player, and someone who makes things happen.
NR: Who would be your dream client?
JH: I have some really good clients, but my favorites are my advocates. They are the people who are grateful for the care you take to get them what they need, and they want to share that with people they care about by referring me to their favorite people.
NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
JH: Choose a trained agent who can help you navigate the purchasing pathway and enjoy the process. This is a really exciting time in your life.
NR: What is your favorite season in Greene County?
JH: Spring.
