In this installment, we chat with Ken Jackson, an agent with Nest Realty in Durham, North Carolina.
Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! What brought you to the area?
Ken Jackson: Came for school, stayed for a girl.
NR: How did you get into real estate?
KJ: We bought a duplex in Downtown Durham and fixed it up together! Now I’m hooked!
NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?
KJ: Landscape Architect and Overlay Designer. All those fancy titles mean I love bringing creative thinking to complex problems to achieve the best result.
NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
KJ: The people, collaborations, and client focus.
NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
KJ: Helping people on the biggest purchase of their lives!
NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
KJ: My background is investing, so that’s always in the back of my mind. Buying a home can be a client’s biggest investment, so I want to be a steward of their best interest at all times and consider that fact.
NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?
KJ: The process of buying a home can be incredibly emotional. I like to listen, understand, and work hard to make sure those emotions are understood and help make the process as easy as possible.
NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
KJ: Genuine, ambitious, creative, honest, and attentive.
NR: Who would be your dream client?
KJ: Bill Murray. He’d be a hoot to sell a house to.
NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
KJ: Trust the process and we’ll hold your hand to make it easy.
NR: What is your favorite season in Durham?
KJ: Summer. Durham Bulls baseball!
