During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry. In this installment, we chat with Kim Nix, an agent with Nest Realty in Richmond, Virginia.
Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! What brought you to the area?
Kim Nix: My family moved to Richmond in 2010 for my husband’s job. He is the head of a K–12 classical school here in Richmond. I have three grown children and two grand babies who are also in Richmond, which is loads of fun!
NR: How did you get into real estate?
KN: As my children got older, I had more time and bandwidth in my schedule and have always enjoyed real estate and home improvement projects. I became part of an amazing real estate team early on and have been going strong ever since.
NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?
KN: I have had my hand in many things, from working with an architectural salvage company to incorporate old pieces into new construction, to photography, to art! Most recently before real estate, I was a full time working studio artist. Being creative and patient in the process and thinking outside the lines are all things that I brought with me to real estate!
NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
KN: I am impressed by the marketing and client management system. And I like to surround myself with good people.
NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
KN: I love getting to know my clients. I am by nature an introvert, and real estate affords me so many opportunities to spend time with and get to know people I might not get to know otherwise, which is a gift to me.
NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?
KN: I want people to find the right fit—and sometimes that means being patient and doing a lot of listening.
NR: What are four adjectives that describe you?
KN: Hospitable, determined, understanding, and intuitive.
NR: Who would be your dream client?
KN: I love to cook, so maybe a celebrity chef? Giada?
NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
KN: Be patient—especially in the current market!
NR: What is your favorite season in Richmond?
KN: Fall—100%.
NR: What was your favorite trip?
KN: Southern France, hands down. We made our way through lots of small towns and villages and then down to the coast and finally finished at Lake Annecy, which might be my most favorite place in the world.
