Meet the Agent: Lauri Palko

We’re proud of the team of agents we’ve assembled here at Nest Realty. We think they’re pretty awesome, and we think you will, too. During Nest Stories’ “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents and brokers to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry.

In this installment, we chat with Lauri Palko, an agent in Asheville, North Carolina.

Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! What brought you to the area?
Lauri Palko: I moved to Asheville in 2005 with my husband and two children for a career change. I live in the Southern part of town and enjoy finding new places to eat, drink coffee and hike. You can find me hiking all over our beautiful mountains with my two dogs or driving back roads and the Blue Ridge Parkway with my husband. I grew up overseas and was fortunate to be able see a lot of the world and have so many interesting experiences. I adore traveling and get a regular itch to do so but even more I love to come home and feel that I truly am where I belong.

NR: How did you get into real estate? How long have you been practicing?
LP: I got my real estate license in 2006. I had always wanted to be a Realtor but the timing never seemed to make sense. When I started I did not know a single person in the area, I could barely find my way around and GPS did not exist. I just knew this was what I wanted to do.

NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
LP: When I sat down to talk with the owners it felt like the perfect fit. Nest offers excellent marketing and support which are a plus for both the agents and the clients.

NR: What’s your favorite part of being an agent?
LP: The amazing people I have the opportunity to meet and help as they navigate the home buying or selling process.

NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
LP: I have worked with all different types of clients over the years so have a solid background to offer all of my clients.

NR: What are five adjectives to describe you?
LP: Loyal, trust-worthy, organized, genuine, patient

NR: Who would be your dream client?
LP: My dream client is someone who is fun to be around and I get to call a friend after we work together!

NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
LP: Find an agent you trust who will help you navigate all the parts of the buying process. Make sure not to put yourself in a siutuation that you end up compromising on other things in life that are important to you.

NR: What’s your favorite season in Asheville?
LP: Fall! The vivid colors are so magnificent in this area and every year I think how lucky I am that I live here and get to take this in. My street always looks postcard perfect! I also love the change in weather as the warmer days change to welcome the cooler temperatures.
