During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry. In this in installment, we chat with Madelyn Niemeyer, an Associate Broker at Nest Realty Asheville.
Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! Where are you from? What brought you to Asheville?
Madelyn Niemeyer: I was born in New England, raised in South Florida, and moved to Asheville because this truly felt like home. The people, culture, atmosphere, and of course the mountains were a huge draw for me. I have a wonderful family of four humans and one spoiled rotten dog, and completely understand when my clients base their home search on pets and/or children’s needs. This is among the many reasons we chose Asheville!
NR: How did you get into real estate?
MN: I have always been an entrepreneur and had success working for myself. When my daughter put me in my place for leaving home too often, I was looking for a career where I could apply my entrepreneurial background, within a field I was passionate about, and spend more time at home. Real Estate became a natural transition.
NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?
MN: I worked previously in marketing and corporate promotional events. This career really gave me a keen eye for detail and prepared me for the ability to juggle many tasks while giving them each the attention they deserve. Although my relationships with my clients tend to continue far beyond closing, each real estate transaction is much like an event in the sense that they have a beginning, middle, and end, with many twists and turns along the way—where you problem solve and ultimately focus on what’s best for the client, which is where I feel I thrive.
NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
MN: From the moment I walked into Nest Realty I felt like it was an extension of me—the clean minimalistic branding could hang as art on the walls in my home, and the efficiency focused agent platform speaks my language! Their desire to create more than a team, but a family, is something that rings true with me, but the greatest piece of the puzzle was the company’s goal of changing the way Real Estate Agents are viewed in the community by removing the stigma of dishonesty.
NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
MN: The moment when your client realizes they can undoubtedly trust you. Sometimes it is at the first meeting and sometimes it takes a little longer, but it truly is an amazing feeling every time (and yes, we can tell when this happens!).
NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
MN: I love the investment side of the business, that is definitely something I am passionate about. I also feel like I am most valuable when my clients are relocating and under pressure to find the right property quickly.
NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?
MN: That’s easy—I love when my clients bring their two and four legged children along.
NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
MN: Ambitious, witty, generous, enthusiastic, and candid.
NR: Who would be your dream client?
MN: Rob Gronkowski—not only is he a Patriot, but he would probably be looking for something completely insane that would make the search tons of fun, and the man is never not smiling!
NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
MN: This is my first time home buyer tag line, “Relax. You’re about to make the biggest and most exciting purchase of your life, and I promise to make it as simple as possible.”
NR: What is your favorite season in Asheville?
MN: The answer depends on when you’re asking, if it’s summer time, my favorite season is winter, if it’s spring I like fall, etc. Not because I’m indecisive, but because Asheville is literally perfect all year round and I’m always excited for something new!
