In this installment, we chat with Maureen Smith, a Broker with Nest Realty Asheville.
Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! What brought you to the area? How long have you lived here
Maureen Smith: I have lived here for 45 years.
NR: How did you get into real estate? How long have you been practicing?
MS: I got my license in 1996, 26 years ago. I got into it because I love everything about houses. I love decorating them, showing them, seeing them, and I love working with people to find their home. It is very rewarding.
NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
MS: Almost everything about Nest brought me here. The reputation, the business model, etc. I just perceived it as a really good company that I wanted to be a part of.
NR: What’s your favorite part of being an agent?
MS: Meeting new people and helping them find their place in the Asheville area.
NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
MS: I have been exposed to the residential construction business for 26 years, so I know a lot about it. I even built a spec house last year with the help of my son, who is a general contractor. I know all of the ins and outs about construction and I have seen Asheville grow for years. I know this area quite well! I can also relate well to people who are in retirement.
NR: What are five adjectives to describe you?
MS: Honest, trustworthy, dedicated, thorough, and caring.
NR: Who would be your dream client?
MS: Tim McGraw!
NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
MS: Buy a home as soon as you possibly can, don’t wait!
NR: What’s your favorite season in Asheville?
MS: Spring because everything comes to life.
