Meet the Agent: Paulina Salerno

During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry. In this installment, we chat with Paulina Salerno, a Broker with 501 Nest Realty.

Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! Where are you from? What brought you to the area?
Paulina Salerno: Hi! My husband and I bought a house in East Durham about three years ago after living in downtown Raleigh—we quickly fell in love with the city and are here to stay!

NR: How did you get into real estate?
PS: I have a strong passion for working with people and sought after jobs that merged customer service and building relationships. Combine that with my confidence, directness, knowledge of the Triangle and boom here we are!

NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?
PS: For the past several years I have been working in property management leasing in downtown Durham. I was able to learn a unique side of the industry, and got to know the area and people well. I also developed some soft skills to better understand how to navigate what clients are looking for and what is available. I believe real estate is about ensuring that my clients are happy with their investment and my previous experience has really helped me understand how to negotiate to ensure they get exactly what they want.

NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
PS: Getting an opportunity at the #1 Brokerage in the area isn’t something I was going to pass up! Also Nester Peggy Harris gave me some great insight into how amazing Nest Realty is 🙂

NR: What is your favorite part of being an agent?
PS: Every day I get to help people and every day is different!

NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
PS: I am a strong negotiator, communicator, and I will ensure my clients get exactly what they are looking for.

NR: What makes you different from other agents? What sets you apart?
PS: My confidence and drive to be the best agent for my client. I will always be direct and honest. I will always be up to date on local/area knowledge, will stay informed on what is trending in the area, and I have a great network to pull information from.

NR: What are five adjectives that describe you?
PS: Intelligent, confident, enthusiastic, outgoing, and optimistic.

NR: Who would be your dream client?
PS: Serena Williams, by far. We would instantly become best friends and tennis doubles partners 🙂

NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
PS: First think about how long you want to be in this house for (a three-to-five-year home vs. your forever home), and then establish non-negotiables for what you are looking for. Then find an agent (me!) who is going to be in your corner and get it done.

NR: What is your favorite season in Raleigh?
PS: Fall! Football season for sure!
