During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents and brokers to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry.
In this installment, we chat with Steven Schambach, a Nest Realtor in New River Valley, VA.
Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! What brought you to the area?
Steven Schambach: I came to the area in 2008 to attend Virginia Tech and never left. Everyone is so enthusiastic here about sharing their love for the area, the Hokies, and just being generally helpful. The NRV has the perfect mix of amenities and nature.
NR: How did you get into real estate? How long have you been practicing?
SS: I’ve always had an interest in real estate, and learned from the sidelines as my wife Leaona started in 2015. Prior to real estate I sold cars and gained valuable experience on building relationships, handling complex situations, and having a yes attitude. I’ve been licensed for about 16 months.
NR: What was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate?
SS: I sold cars for Enterprise Car Sales. I had to relate to people from many different backgrounds and be knowledgeable about the entire process.
NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage?
SS: The online presence, and overall vibe really gelled with me.
NR: What’s your favorite part of being an agent?
SS: I love meeting new people and hearing their motivations for buying. Where they’re from, what they do for fun. Building connections is the foundation of my business and having a major impact on a major life milestone for so many people is an amazing accomplishment.
NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients?
SS: I make amazing video tours. 30 plus minutes, high resolution and not choppy. It’s as if my clients are there with me. I had several deals last year sight unseen like this.
NR: What are five adjectives to describe you?
SS: Ready, Relatable, Exceptional, Kind, Savvy
NR: Who would be your dream client?
SS: Chef Aarón Sánchez, I’d love to meet him and pick his brain on Mexican cooking and kitchen ideas.
NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be?
SS: Don’t get tunnel vision, and call me with any questions!
NR: What’s your favorite season?
SS: Winter. I love cold, snow, skiing, and a cozy fireplace.
