At today’s CAAR (Charlottesville Area Association of Realtors) meeting, incoming CAAR President, our very own Arleen Yobs, presented fellow Nester Georgia Lindsey with the Q4 CAAR Good Neighbor Award for her work with Meals on Wheels.
Meals on Wheels is a community-based nonprofit organization that orchestrates volunteers to deliver hot, nutritious meals to the ill, aging, and recovering residents of the Charlottesville/Albemarle area who find it difficult or impossible to prepare meals themselves.
Georgia was nominated by Leigh Trippe, Executive Director for Meals on Wheels of Charlottesville/Albemarle. Georgia has been involved with Meals on Wheels for two years, where she started by volunteering on the committee that organizes the Meals on Wheels signature event–Taste This!
Last year, she was responsible for the subcommittee that worked on the silent auction at the event, which raised over $35,000 that helped serve 23 people for an entire year. This year, Georgia was Chair of the silent auction and sponsorships committee and the event raised $55,000.
Georgia has contributed approximately 80-100 hours, and has recruited others to donate 1,000 hours of their time to this worthy cause. She also serves as a Meals on Wheels Charlottesville/Albemarle ambassador for the Synapse Hub, which connects businesses and nonprofit groups for community and economic development.
With Georgia’s assistance and dedication toMeals on Wheels of Charlottesville/Albemarle, they have helped serve meals to approximately 275 clients.
Bravo Georgia! Your generosity and philanthropic efforts make us proud!
