Celebrate the Season

It’s fall, y’all! And you know what that means. It’s time to hit the pumpkin patch with your little one(s), your significant other, or your bestie!

Morganton and the surrounding area have a number of places to pick out a pumpkin for your porch décor, but there are a few places that we recommend as our favorites.

The first is North Morganton United Methodist Church, located at 990 Sanford Drive. Each year the church has a large shipment of pumpkins delivered from the Navajo Indian Reservation and staff and volunteers from the chuch turn the front lawn of the church that faces Sanford Drive into a pumpkin patch. A portion of the proceeds goes back to the Navajo tribe, and the other is used for missions. The church makes sure to provide a large variety of pumpkins to choose from, all of which are reasonably priced.

Another local spot where we love to pick up some pumpkins for your home and porch is the Penny Patch Fresh Produce. The Penny Patch is a locally owned family business that specializes in seasonal vegetables and fruits. They are open year round and always have a good selection of pumpkins to choose from in the fall! You can see the pumpkins from the road as they are placed in front of the store. The Penny Patch is located at 385 E. Fleming Drive in Morganton.

The last recommendation for a good pumpkin patch is Johnny Wilson Farm, located at 5163 Precious Memories Lane in Granite Falls. The farm works to provide safe, fun, and educational activities to teach the importance of agriculture. Visitors are provided with a variety of activities at the pumpkin patch other than just picking a pumpkin, including farm animals, a corn and hay maze, a corn crib, a duck race, a bounce house, and more. There is a cost of $10 per individual at the farm, and they only accept cash.

Enjoy your pickin’!

Spread the love
