Back in “the day”, Gordonsville used to serve its famous fried chicken to the passengers of trains when they stopped in their town. Local women would carry platters of food on their heads to the train passengers, and eventually Gordonsville earned the nickname of the “Chicken-leg center of the Universe”. The Cooper family still holds the “secret famous recipe” for Gordonsville’s famous Fried Chicken!
