Staging Tips for Spring

Flowers are beginning to bloom, birds are chirping…and we’re ready to help you take flight.

Here are some strategic staging tips to help you get your home ready for the spring real estate selling season.

Clean up time

It’s everyone’s favorite time of year—spring cleaning time! Start the season (and your home selling) off on the right foot by taking time to clean up your home. You’ll be amazed by what a little dusting and polishing can accomplish. In preparation for selling, this will also include garage and shed clean outs; as well as decluttering and removing excessive personal objects and signs of pets.

Whip your yard into shape

You don’t want to scare potential buyers away with a wasteland of broken branches, mud, and brown, frost-bitten plants. Make your home a place that people are excited about by clearing away winter debris, investing in evergreen shrubs and plants that are resistant to cold snaps, and incorporate low-maintenance flowers that add a pop of color without demanding constant attention. Bag up yard debris and take broken tools and toys to the dump.

Say goodbye to winter

It’s time to box up your winter clothing and gear. Nothing says neglect like holiday lights and decorations still scattered around your home in April. Grab some boxes and put away your ugly Christmas sweaters until next season! Put the skis back in the garage and pack up the kids’ winter wear as well. You won’t be needing those snow shovels and ice melt for a while either.

Enhance your curb appeal

Spruce up your entryway with a fresh, clean, unpersonalized entry mat that welcomes potential buyers. Keep the entry to your home bright, tidy, and inviting with good lighting and a fresh coat of paint on the door. For inspiration, check out our “First Impressions” article from NEST Magazine that takes a look at how homeowners are achieving great curb appeal.

Enlist the power of the senses

Pick your favorite flower, candle, or incense and give your home a sensory tune-up! If the weather is right, open the windows to let some fresh air in and the stuffy winter air out. We always say, there’s nothing like the power of fresh flowers and greens to enliven a home.

Bring the spring indoors

Bring the bright, colorful hues of spring into your home with simple decorative items such as throw pillows, blankets, and accent pieces. Put away the dark, heavy blankets that you’ve been nestled in all winter, and bring out the flower vases! For more info on the look below, check out our “Beachy Bliss” blog!
