The Trumbull Group attends a Inman Connect NYC 2013 session.

Last week, my partner Stephanie Howard and I traveled to New York City to attend the Real Estate Connect conference produced by Inman News.  Inman is considered the preeminent source of cutting-edge technology coverage, real estate news, and education, and this conference gave us an opportunity to discuss new ideas and interact with the innovators in our industry.

It was exciting to hear what leaders like Craig Newmark, founder of craigslist, and Rich Barton, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Zillow, are working on and looking at in terms of new projects and opportunities.

We are fortunate here at Nest Realty to be surrounded by recognized innovators in our industry – in fact, Nest Realty itself earned the Inman Award for most Innovative Brokerage in 2009, and Jim Duncan was recognized at this year’s event as one of Inman’s top 100 innovators in 2012.  We all benefit from this kind of forward thinking and The Trumbull Group is  proud to be a part of a company that recognizes the importance of staying current.

We had fun exploring the city and learned a lot to take back home with us. What were our key takeaways? One of the most exciting things that we learned is that Nest truly is on the cutting edge – not just locally, but nationally.  There was a lot of discussion about mobile websites (our mobile-optimized site means you can check out all of Central Virginia’s properties on the go!), innovative work spaces (check out our new digs), and a focus on streamlining the transaction process and making it as paperless as possible (the great tools at our disposal are one of the many reasons we made the transition to Nest!).

Stephanie and I are excited to explore the use of a few new apps that we learned about at the conference. Everyone seems to agree, however, that with as many tools as we have available today and with the different working styles that people have, the most important thing is to find what technology and best practices work for you and make the most of them!

Spread the love
