- View: We really love the view from the back deck, especially in the summer and fall. Walking down Cherry Avenue and seeing the front yard when the cherry tree or hydrangeas are in bloom is another favorite.
- Room: The owner's suite bathroom is one of the best rooms in the whole house, and we miss it already. We've also loved entertaining guests in this house, and the dining room, kitchen, and back deck have all seen some great times.
- Tree: There's a crab apple tree in the backyard that's beautiful when it's in bloom and sees its fair share of wildlife, including one enterprising groundhog!
- Walk: Walking distance to The Corner and Main Street's shopping and restaurants; a five minute walk from what might be the best ice cream shop in VA; THREE parks are just a short stroll away! The house is in the exact center of town, there's a lot close by!
- Hike: Blackrock Summit; Old Rag; Blue Ridge Tunnel Trail; the "hike" from Barboursville down to the ruins with a bottle of red.
- Breakfast: Bodo's! And don't miss Guajiros Miami Eatery, which you can walk to. Incredible for brunch and lunch.
- Lunch: We love sandwiches from the Market (several locations) and Ivy Provisions. A real treat is The Korner Restaurant, just a few minutes' walk from the house. Possibly the best fries in Cville.
- Dinner: Public Fish & Oyster; Continental Divide; Black Cow - all of these are walkable. Lampo, Tavola, and CONMOLE are favorites located just a few minutes away.
- Pub/Winery: Durty Nelly's is a national treasure and should not be missed. We also love Potter's Craft Cider, which is the closest cidery/winery to town.
- Living Here Has Been: 1016 Cherry Avenue has been a huge part of our lives, and while we're excited for our upcoming move, we can't believe we're saying goodbye to it. We'll miss its location, its uniqueness, even its SHOWERS - but more than anything we'll miss what it was to us; a place to have all sorts of family and friends come and stay and feel welcome. It will always be the first home we brought our son to, and we're glad he got to experience it for a couple of years, because we put so much of ourselves into it that it represents his Mom and Dad, too. It's a true gem, and we hope its next occupants will enjoy all that it, and the neighborhood, have to offer.
