  • Room: The screened porch! When the weather permits, it's my favorite place to eat, to work, to read, and to spend time with friends. I can spy on birds and other animals. The ceiling fan keeps it cooler on hot summer days.
  • Tree: There are two little persimmon trees out back.
  • Walk: I can walk behind the baseball field at Crozet Elementary and feel totally isolated, run errands on foot in downtown Crozet, or chat with neighbors on residential sidewalks.
  • Hike: Mint Springs park is an obvious choice, just a couple of miles away. My "hidden gem" award goes to Patricia Byrom park, just a little farther away up 810, but still an easy destination for an after work hike or dog walk.
  • Breakfast: Praha Bakery - walking distance, and made with love.
  • Lunch: CroZeli - also walking distance, and a great midday break for this remote worker.
  • Dinner: Sal's Pizza - longtime family favorite and busy weeknight savior. And bar botanical when you're feeling fancier.
  • Pub/Winery: Trivia Tuesdays at Starr Hill, and Wine Wednesdays at King Family.
  • Living Here Has Been: I've had kids at both the Field School (next door) and Crozet Elementary (across the street), and miss the days when they walked to school. I love listening to owls and peepers from the screened porch at night. I'll miss all the little touches like outlets in closets, big drawers in the kitchen, and my walk-in pantry. Though I will not miss COVID homeschooling, I was so glad to have the upstairs study to use for Zoom school. I will also miss my $7 electric bill since installing solar! Friendly neighbors are the icing on the cake.
