- View: I love to sit in my living room and look out the huge windows into the backyard and beyond. My two Japanese Maples frame the yard and the green space behind me. I love to listen to the birds.
- Room: I love to sit on my patio, especially in the early morning. I drink my coffee and fire up my Merlin app to see what birds are active.
- Tree: I love my trees! I have two Japanese Maples in the backyard, and a large maple in the front. On the side is a Crepe Myrtle that has gorgeous pink blooms in the summer. Also on the side are three Serviceberry trees that get white flowers in the spring.
- Walk: My neighborhood is fantastic for walking (for dog and human alike). The entire Highlands is five miles. I like to walk early, around 7am when it?s still cool out. We are a very social neighborhood with a lot of walkers.
- Hike: The Crozet Connector Trail is a wonderful nature walk. It runs from Crozet Park to Lickinghole Basin (just behind my house and down the hill). Lickinghole Basin is a great place to bird watch (there?s an eagle pair who return every year to breed).
- Breakfast: Praha Bakery down the road on 240. Her bread and pastries are divine. Everything is made in house.
- Lunch: Fardowners has great burgers and salads (good for lunch or dinner).
- Dinner: Restoration at Old Trail has great food and spectacular sunset views.
- Pub/Winery: Crozet Pizza has great food and a huge variety of beers on tap. Starr Hill Brewery is also wonderful and down the road on 240.
- Living Here Has Been: I love my house. If I could pick it up and take it with me to the Midwest I would. It is one level living with a bonus room upstairs that can be a guest room, playroom, storage, whatever you need. My favorite thing about the house is the openness. With the blinds open the light streams in through the front and back. The trees make it feel very private and it is a quiet neighborhood (people don?t even know we?re here). The street is very secluded with green space in front and back. With all I love about the physical location and the house itself, my favorite thing is the people. Everyone looks out for each other. We have a hospitality committee made up of residents and we have 3-4 potluck parties a year in the cul de sac. We also have a Christmas party every year. We have a neighborhood book club, too. It?s a great neighborhood to walk as well, with or without your dog.
