A very unique Post and Beam American Barn home first built by craftsman in 1978 with additions completed in 1988 and 2000. This wonderful home is owned by an artist and a designer and features lush, no maintenance landscaping with an abundance of rhododendrons and mountain laurel and is beautifully sited for spectacular sunsets in a protected end of of cul-de-sac bordering open space. In addition to the 3 bedrooms the home features two lofts that can double as sleeping areas. The house has seven skylights that flood the interior with gorgeous light. The owners rent the house using VRBO. The net income per year to owner ranges between $35,000 and $60,000 NET depending on the success of the ski season according to the owner. Per the owner, "Electric bill is very reasonable because of the heat pump and wood burning fireplace. Most people like to leave the windows open in the summer and do not use the air conditioning. This last year my total bill was $1,100 for electricity. The wood burning stove heats the whole house and people like to keep the fire burning. I provide the firewood and the wood costs me $250 this past Fall and Winter."

GreatSchools Ratings for Virginia are based on the Standards of Learning (SOL) End-of-Grade reading, writing, math, science and history/social science results and the End-of-Course reading, writing, algebra I, algebra II, geometry, biology, chemistry, earth science, world geography, Virginia and United States history, world history I and world history II results. Grade 8 history/social science results were not included due to incomplete reporting by the state. GreatSchools compared the test results for each grade and subject across all Virginia schools and divided them into 1 through 10 ratings (10 is the best). Please note, private schools are not required to release test results, so ratings are available only for public schools. GreatSchools Ratings cannot be compared across states, because of differences in the states' standardized testing programs. Keep in mind that when comparing schools using GreatSchools Ratings it's important to factor in other information, including the quality of each school's teachers, the school culture, special programs, etc.
