Seller's Scoop

  • View: Being greeted by the morning sun and beautiful greenery in the breakfast room as I sit down with my coffee and paper.
  • Room: I love being in the breakfast room
  • Tree: We have some unique trees on our property including a Chinese Yew (there's one in Duke Gardens), Pomegranate tree (non fruit bearing but lovely flowers), long leaf pine, and a gorgeous Japanese Maple.
  • Walk: I am really invigorated when I walk through the neighborhood in Spring. Everyone seems to really care about their yards and plantings and it is GORGEOUS in Hope Valley in Spring!
  • Hike: There is an amazing cycling trail that is easy to access via Surrey Green called Third Fork Creek Trail. It is easy to connect to the American Tobacco Trail from TFCT. This cycling trail was our savior during the pandemic.
  • Breakfast: Bull and Bean and Hope Valley Diner are an easy walk from our house! Bull & Bean is more upscale while Hope Valley Diner serves great diner food and you'll always see a friend there. True Flavors is a short drive but serves AMAZING food and free biscuits!
  • Lunch: Eastcut Sandwich Shop and Saladelia. Eastcut is classic American food done very well while Saladelia brings middle eastern food to Durham. Both are delicious and Durham classics
  • Dinner: Succotash serves fantastic New Orleans style food. My husband who is from MS and lived in NOLA for several years has even given it his blessing and he is picky! And you can't go wrong with any restaurant downtown.
  • Pub/Winery: Ponysaurus and HiWire
  • Living Here Has Been: One of my favorite memories is the day we moved in but before the fence was installed, our girls went out in the back yard, saw the sand trap and yelled "Sandbox!" Needless to say, they jumped right in. What I love is how our backyard is extended so greatly by being on the beautiful golf course. We have made so many friends over the back fence. One time we even found our 8 year old son selling his Dad's beer to golfers as they drove by! The house itself is fantastic. It can live as a one story for a couple but quickly expands to hold all our kids when they come home at the holidays. The light that enters the house even on a cloudy day just keeps me in a perpetually good mood. I also love the high ceilings, the flow of the house, the careful way the house was designed to pull people out through the living room onto the back patio. I love my office (with a 180 degree view of the backyard) which has been referred to as "Command Central." And the laundry room and storage - wow!
