Southside

Getting away from the hustle and bustle of Downtown without going far is the hallmark of Southside. Whether you are just across the Manchester, Nickel, or Huguenot bridges, you are close to town in neighborhoods with age and charm.

Key Features

James Riverside: When you are talking to a native Richmonder about "Southside," they usually mean the geographic region south of the James River, within the City of Richmond. Homes in this area benefit from proximity to river views, water activities, and multiple riverside parks.

Crossroads Coffee & Ice cream: Crossroads Coffee & Ice Cream is not your average coffee shop. Located in a cozy converted car repair shop at the intersection of Semmes Ave. and Forest Hill Ave., they host live local music and you can grab locally roasted coffee and hand dipped ice cream, as well as burgers, brews, and a nice selection of fresh bakery items.

James River Access - Southside RVA's Greatest Asset

So many reasons to spend time south of the river! Beautiful homes, tree-lined avenues, great shopping, eclectic dining, and more - but the top of the list is easy access to the James. From Huguenot Flat Water all the way down to the fall line across from Rockett's, the fishing, kayaking, biking, birdwatching, and other outdoor pleasures just can't be beat!

Pony Pasture

Parking is easy when you arrive early, but spots fill up quickly for those wanting a quick dip in the James River. Wade across the low rapids and spend an hour or more relaxing on a flat rock as you listen to the James ramble by.

T. Tyler Potterfield Memorial bridge

The T-Pott Bridge, as it has become affectionately known, opened in December 2016 and has already become a major destination for locals and visitors alike. The pedestrian-only bridge connects Historic Manchester on the south side of the James River to Brown's Island, the site of many outdoor festivals and concerts.
