Manchester, also known as “South Side” or “Dogtown,” is on the southern side of the James River directly across from downtown. It boasts some of the best views of the city’s skyline. Manchester’s rebirth has made it a hotspot district with plenty of warehouse lofts and apartments, new construction projects, cafes, breweries, restaurants, and independent art studios. It’s also popular for fishing and birding, kayaking around Belle Isle and Mayo Island, and exploring The Floodwall Park.
