City of Roanoke - Southeast/Garden City

A five minute drive from the City of Roanoke up Mill Mountain Road, Southeast Roanoke has a wide range of housing styles and price points. Also known as the Mill Mountain Star, it's the largest man made illuminated star in the world! Because it is perched on the top of Mill Mountain, you can see it at night from varying parts of Roanoke. Should you want to see it up close at any point in the day, you can park right at the top of the mountain and walk directly to the base of the star.

Mill Mountain Zoo

This zoo is fun for animal lovers of all ages. In addition to the more traditional zoo activities, you can also attend a summer camp, a breakfast with the animals, and even a roar and pour happy hour. Animals that live at the zoo include red pandas and a Chinese water dragon!
