Most impactful experience?
Being adopted at age 8 from a small gulag village called Atka in Russia to a family in Wilmington. This experience taught me that family is the people who love and care for you, not necessarily the people you are born to.
In my spare time, you'll find me:
Reading and writing. I love autobiographies and unusual fiction, and I enjoy discussing books with others.
What’s your favorite band?
Brooks & Dunn because my stepdad was their light manager and set designer. I have fond memories of hanging out with the crew.
Something unexpected?
I obtained a private pilot's license. I have always wanted to fly and I jumped at the chance to make this dream a reality.
The greatest lesson I have learned?
To focus on what you can control and to let go of the rest. Some things are out of your control, no matter how much you prepare. I learned this after planning for my daughter’s birth only to find out that she has an undiagnosed congenital heart defect.
What’s my favorite thing about Wilmington?
The beach! It offers a perfect respite from hustle and bustle of life, local getaways and family fun.
