Westover Hills Neighborhood Guide
Mostly developed between the late 1930s and mid-1950s just beyond the Forest Hill Park terminus of the old southside trolley line, Westover Hills was among the first "automobile suburbs" of then-Chesterfield County. The shrewd developer also footed the bill for construction of the "Nickel Bridge" crossing the James River right into the neighborhood from Byrd Park on the other side--it cost a nickel to cross if you didn't have your Westover Hills car tag visible on your bumper. Quite a perk of residence!
