Asheville Summer Bucket List: Go tubing on the Green River

Welcome to Week 4! In Nest Realty’s Summer Bucket List Series, we’ll highlight five of our favorite summer activities in the Asheville area. After you tackle our bucket list, let us know which adventure was your favorite! Next, send a photo or leave a comment about your day in the sun. We hope these inspire you to love where you live even more than you already do!

The fourth must-do for this summer in Asheville continues with Asheville’s special water theme―go tubing down the Green River! The Green River is a dam-release river that flows through the beautiful North Carolina mountains, south of Asheville. It’s very close by, and it’s very scenic! Tubing is the perfect lazy summer day activity. Like many other rivers, there are several tubing companies that offer tube rentals for the day, such as Green River Cove Tubing or Wilderness Cove Tubing.

Wilderness Tube Cove offers a number of different available tubing trips on their website. The website lists the number of hours each trip will approximately take, as well as a price for the tube and a written description of the course. The most popular trip is From Bridge to Bridge, a gentle, 3-mile tube ride that will take about 2 hours and only cost you $10! All trip prices at Wilderness Tube Cove include parking, tube rental, a bus ride, and a life jacket―what a deal!

Because the river is a dam-release river, availability of trips is based on the dam release schedule, which you can find here. Grab your sunscreen, hats, and close-toed shoes, and head over to the Green River for a relaxing day of floating down the river!
