Charlottesville City Market to Open This Weekend

New Location: Same Great Market

This Saturday, April 4, marks the first Charlottesville City Market of the 2015 season! Founded in 1973, this open air market is the oldest in the city. It features more than 100 local vendors selling a variety of fresh produce and herbs, meats, arts and crafts, food and beverages, and much, much more. On an average day, the Market can draw over 5,000 visitors, making it one of the most popular tourist destinations in the area.

But this year’s season is a bit different than the last. Instead of operating at its former parking lot location, where its been since 1993, the Market has temporarily moved to the adjacent parking lot at 100 Water Street. This move will give the city an opportunity to continue planning and designing the Market’s final home, which they hope to incorporate into the building of Market Plaza.

City Market’s operating hours:
April – October: Saturdays from 7 a.m. – 12 Noon
November – December: Saturdays from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.
